About the speaker:

Lim Teck Siang

Teck's foundations in cinematography were shaped by assisting some of Asia's top cinematographers during the last years of celluloid film in Singapore. Formerly trained as an animator, Teck was an early adopter of digital cinematography and he was fortunate to have built his career as a young DP by working with Singapore's top directors, as well as working alongside Singapore's best gaffers, technical crew, editors, and colorists.

Growing up and living in Singapore's multiracial and multicultural environment has shaped Teck's interest in collaborating across cultures, and he has worked on cross-border projects across Asia, including South Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Singapore's unique mix of slick cosmopolitanism juxtaposed with traditional and local ways of life is a constant source of material and inspiration. He completed his Masters in Cinematography at the American Film Institute, supported by the Singapore Info-Comm Media Development Authority's Media Education Scholarship.

Jacen Tan

Named 'Singapore’s latest film funnyman” by The Straits Times, Jacen Tan is one of Singapore’s most exciting young filmmakers. In the pre-YouTube days of 2005, Jacen’s first short film, Tak Giu (Kick Ball), became a viral hit on the Internet, causing servers to crash due to overwhelming traffic. His latest short film, Homeground, was selected for the POSB Storytellers Grant in 2015.

Jacen combines his love for horror comedy and his experiences from serving in the army to make his first feature film, Zombiepura. It was selected as the opening film for Scream Asia Film Festival 2018 and has since been acquired by Contents Panda, the producer-distributor of Korean box office hit, ‘Train to Busan’.
